If one intent to provide an Electronic Communications Service, Broadcasting Service and an Electronic Communications network service within the Republic of South Africa, you will require the following licences;
- Electronic Communications Service (ECS). This Licence allows you to provide an Electronic Communications Service within South Africa.
- Electronic Communications Network Service (ECNS). This Licence allows you to build/ construct your own Electronic Communications Network within South Africa
- Broadcasting Service Licence This Licence allows you to provide a Broadcasting Service within South Africa.
These licence is further separated between a Class licence or Individual licence.
- Class ECS and Class ECNS licences allows you to provide a service within a per-metro/district basis.
- Individual ECS and ECNS licences allows you to provide a service within a provincial/national scope. (not available anymore at this stage) Only by ITA
Chapter Three (3) of the ECA sets out the terms and conditions for an entity to provide an Electronic Communications Service (ECS) or to build a Network (ECNS).
