If you want to use the radio frequency spectrum within Republic of South Africa, you will be required to be in possession of a radio frequency spectrum licence that’s granted in terms of section 31 of the Electronic Communications Act, Act 36 of 2005 (ECA) by ICASA.

In terms of Chapter Five of the ECA, ICASA controls, plans, administrate and managers the use and licencing of the radio frequency spectrum within South Africa.

Spectrum licensing requires, that you first hold an Electronic Communications Network licence (ECNS) licence and/or Electronic Communications service licence (ECS) licence before its granted.

Your annual spectrum fees is depended on the frequency/bandwidth being applied for and the geographical area. Rubico will be able to assist you by working out an estimate in what your license fees will be.

Rubico will be able to assist with radio frequency spectrum licensing applications and annual licencing renewal fees.

Please note that all applications fees is non-refundable. A successful application will depended on the availably of the spectrum in that area.
